What is the difference between macarons and macaroons?
Macarons (spelled with one "o") are made from almond flour, egg whites, and sugar. Macaroons (spelled with two "o") are coconut-based and do not have fillings.
How long do macarons stay fresh?
Outside of the refrigerator, macarons stay fresh for up to 12 hours. Refrigerated, up to one week. In the freezer, macarons will stay fresh for up to 6 months (provided they are in a an airtight container.
